Update – winter ’23

underwater and underway

Dear Everybody,

Here’s some news about art underground, images from the sky and drifters in the water.

Underwater Lab at Stronghold 26, Matsu Biennial, Taiwan

Fortified tunnels run through the rocks overlooking the sea, which can be observed through narrow windows. I set up a three part exhibition in the muddy bunkers and newly designed building of Stronghold 26. To combine the scientific and the artistic view onto the ocean, I used old and new technologies, turning a bunker outlook into a camera obscura. Used a fish’s x-ray to model its echo-response in clay and got the graphic echogram out of the researcher’s computer and on the a large, soft cushion to sit on. See more images here.

You can visit the show until 12 November at Stronghold 26, Nangan!

Underwater Lab is curated by Eva Lin, and includes work by Chihhung Liu, Ho Yen-Yen and CHANG Yung-Ta

Satellites and Drifters

Find me in Paris! Between 6 November and 3 December I’ll be staying around LOCEAN of the Sorbonne University chiselling data, collected during the BioSWOT-Med mission, from drifters and other underwater technologies supported by new satellite tech, into a sculpture.

Bourse Fondation Schleich-Lentz

I was awarded the first edition of the Fondation Schleich-Lentz and the Fonds culturel national scholarship for ceramics for my project Invisible Ocean. More on that coming soon!

See you in TAS!

I’m excited to be setting up an exhibition about personal grief and the Southern Ocean together with Maria Blackwell at Moonah Arts Center!

Opening Thursday 25 January 2024! I hope to see y’all there!
